Laura Turón
2024 Curator and Lead Artist
Laura Turón is a Mexican-American multidisciplinary artist, born in El Paso, TX, and raised in Acapulco, Mexico. Some of her most notable artworks include: Unity, a public art sculpture she made in 2021, for a roundabout in El Paso, Paradox Traveling Art — an art gallery on wheels, housed within a converted full-size school bus, and Paradox Immersive Art — where she curates exhibitions featuring her work along with guest artists.
Turón’s art combines concepts of time and belongingness through collaboration and community art, immersive and interactive installations, and large-scale mark-making drawings.
Most recently, through the Member's Choice event, her work was selected to be part of the permanent collection of the El Paso Museum of Art. Earlier this year, she also participated in the Fish Factory Art Residency in Iceland, where she designed and programmed Enchanted Skies, an interactive art installation inspired by the movement of the Aurora Borealis. Her art installations are currently on display at her gallery, Paradox Immersive Art.
